Paisley's Story
Paisley, 8, has enjoyed being around horses since she was four years old. They are the highlight of her week when lessons are taking place. Since being with Blue Sky Acres, she has learned some new things. She has worked on things like grooming, leading, and labeling parts of a horse’s body. Learning new things comes with challenges.
Paisley has enjoyed learning the labels for body parts of a horse. She regularly tells people to move their forelock off of their face. Working on memorization is hard for Paisley, so practicing this skill on things she enjoys learning is very helpful!
Being on the ground near a horse rather than on top has introduced Paisley to a struggle that she’s never faced. Horses have personality and don’t always want to work. She has always had a horse leader to help her while she was in the saddle. Learning to be the horse leader herself has taken some extra effort. Jackie and the volunteers present each week have shown an enormous amount of patience and grace in helping Paisley learn and work through the obstacles faced learning these new tasks.
I am so glad that Paisley is able to learn all of these things from such caring people. I am very grateful for Jackie and all of the people at Blue Sky Acres for taking time to encourage Paisley and foster her love of horses while helping her in other areas that benefit her in life.
