Blue Sky Acres Goes Out in the Community

Blue Sky Acres is getting its name out in the community. Although we are not advertising for services because of the limitations on our capacity due to land, we feel like God is beginning to open up doors that are allowing us to connect with the people He has intended for us to make connections with. God is the best networker in the world, we have decided!

One of these connections began when our staff member, Jackie's son began to tell his boss, James Gerbasi with Gerbasi Signs and Apparel about what we do. He then mentioned that he had recently joined the noon Rotary Club and that they were offering a $500 mini-grant to sponsor a specific project. We would like to give a huge thank you to the rotary club because they accepted our application and the $500 will go towards sponsoring our very first child in our pilot program for children in foster care. Jackie and I went to speak at the Rotary Club and were excited to find that we knew a few of the members there and also made some new connections with members of the community.

The next connection came about two weeks later when I (Hallie) got a call one evening from the aunt of one of our students. She mentioned that she was part of the Sunrise Rotary Club and that they had a last-minute cancelation of their speaker and asked if I would mind speaking. I gladly agreed and presented at the meeting the following morning at 7:30 am. These two presentations happened in a time span of fewer than two weeks! One of the members who attended that meeting is a member of Springfield United Methodist church who now contributes to us as well. He mentioned that we have a lot of good publicity in this area and good people on our team. I would just like to say that this is all due to God's amazing favor and provision!

A final connection came through an email from the editor of Effingham Living magazine who wanted to do a story on me and Blue Sky Acres. Please stay tuned for more information about that!

Psalm 127: 1 says, "Unless the LORD builds the house, the builders labor in vain."

I believe that Blue Sky Acres is being built up by the Lord and my prayer is that we continually keep Him as our foundation. When we do things with only our own efforts, it is labor, but as we do them in partnership with Him, His yoke is easy and His burden light!
