Strategic Planning for Blue Skies
Blue Sky Acres recently met for a planning session in order to seek God for direction and to begin to make a plan to go where we believe He is leading us. We focused on four primary subjects which included programs, site planning/needs, finances, and public awareness. In these sessions, we used diagrams to define the different areas in which we needed to make goals and began writing action plans for each area. Although we have a long way to go, we made a great start!
Another order of business was to define our vision statement, and we decided on, “We help every person walk in their God-given destiny." We feel that even though our primary purpose is to serve individuals with physical, mental, and emotional challenges, the other aspect of that is empowering volunteers, donors, staff, and anyone who comes our way to walk in the calling that God has planned for them.
We held a separate planning meeting to talk about what we need in a permanent home and defined the basic necessities we would need in order to get up and running as well as our long-term goals and dreams. Stage one includes the bare minimum of structures needed in order to function including fencing, run-ins, an outdoor arena, and the use of the Royal Flush. Stage two includes building a covered arena, classroom, and a few other buildings. We did not get to stage three yet but the sky is the limit for what could happen next! When we do find our permanent home, we plan to have a master facilities plan developed that will lay out all of the structures we would like to build so if a group were to come alongside us wanting to build, we would know the best layout long-term.
Another aspect of this site plan was to begin talking about how to raise money for this permanent location. We will detail that information about our capital campaign in another post. We are very excited about the direction that God is taking us and look forward to sharing testimonies about how he leads and provides for us!
