It’s All About Jesus: How Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch Reminded Us Of What Is Most Important
Last month, Jackie and I (Hallie) traveled across the country to Oregon to visit Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch during their annual event to engage with similar ministries, Ignition.
When Blue Sky Acres was formed, Crystal Peaks was one of the models that we followed as we developed our Equine Mentorship program, together with other similar ministries such as Hope Reins in Raleigh.
Although we were familiar with some of the concepts that were spoken about, what we were not prepared for was the onslaught of emotions that came as we spent time in the presence of God that has been cultivated in that atmosphere.
In fact, one of our biggest takeaways from the week felt like a complete shift in our identity as an organization.
That truth is that we are not a horse place that simply talks about Jesus here and there. We are actually a Christ-centered ministry that encourages people to encounter the Creator of these amazing beings.
This verse, which was repeated frequently throughout the weekend, confirms that same idea:
“Seek first the kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well” Matthew 6:33.
Since returning, as a group we have attempted to find Jesus in everything we do. This sometimes leads to interesting discussions.
One day recently, Jackie and our volunteers searched to discover the answer to the question “Why did God make the gnat?” What they learned is that gnats actually serve several important functions including decomposition and even pollination. Even they have a purpose!
In literally everything, we can find SOMETHING to be grateful for.
We have that same desire for you, our readers, to seek Jesus in everything you do. It does not matter how mundane or small it is. He wants so much more than a once-a-week relationship with you—he wants you to recognize that He is with you in every moment.
So we return, the same on the outside but on the inside we feel a little bit lighter in our spirits. The weight of keeping this place running does not feel quite so heavy anymore, because at the end of the day, this is God’s ministry, not ours.
As always, thank you for your prayers and partnership. We are eternally grateful!
